Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the key European nation.
Modi arrived in Geneva late last night from the Qatari capital Doha on the third leg of his five-nation tour.
Addressing business leaders, PM Modi said, “India is not just a market of 1.25 billion. We have skills and government is open to business. We want to have manufacturing of global standards. Hence Swiss model of skill development very relevant for us.”
“The diamonds on Swiss watches come from Gujarat. So am fully sensitive to years concerns,” PM Modi told Swiss watch industry.
Addressing a joint briefing, Swiss President said, “India & Switzerland making considerable progress in fighting tax fraud & evasion. We have promised India support in its efforts to become a member of NSG.”
