President appoints GC Murmu as new CAG

G C Murmu New Delhi, Aug 7,2020: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday appointed Girish Chandra Murmu as new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, a day after he tendered resignation as Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor.
Mr Murmu will be replacing Rajiv Mehrishi, a 1978 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre as CAG.
The decision came exactly after a year, the Centre reorganised Jammu and Kashmir bifurcating it into two Union territories.
It is worthwhile to mention that former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Manoj Sinha, is likely to take oath of office as the second LG of UT J&K at Raj Bhavan on Friday afternoon.
