maha assm99Mumbai, Nov 27 : Apart from five members, rest 283 newly-elected legislators of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly took their oath of office at the Vidhan Bhavan here on Wednesday under Pro-Tem Speaker Kalidas N Kolambkar.
A new bonhomie was seen at the entrance of the Assembly were NCP’s Supriya Sule hugged Uddhav Thackeray’s son–Aditya–with a smile.
Suprisingly, Ms Sule, daughter of NCP’s Sharad Pawar, too welcomed with the same gesture her cousin and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who few days back parted ways with the party and joined the BJP.
BJP’s senior leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis shook hands with Supriya.
With the joyfull mood of political leaders during the oath-taking it was very hard to imagine that a month-long political tussle took between them.
Udhhav Thackeray will be administered the oath of office and secrecy by the Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at a mega public function scheduled at Shivaji Park on Thursday evening.
A Palghar-based party, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) joined the Maha Vikas Aghadi(MVA) and with their three legislators–Hitendra Thakur, his son Kshitij Thakur and Rajesh Patil–MVA strength rose to 169 in the 288-member assembly, said Chavan.
Earlier, Mr Thackeray on Wednesday morning called on the Governor at the Raj Bhavan. He was accompanied Thackeray by his wife Rashmi .
The dust has now settled. But who will be the deputy CM? A question still unanswered.
Sources informed that Ajit Pawar’s name is making rounds.
Congress is yet to finalise its candidate for deputy CM.
