SC issues notice on writ alleging ‘massive corruption’ in iron ore mines allocation; names amicus curiae

sc2New Delhi, Apr 17: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice to Union of India, Odisha, Jharkhand, Karnataka and the Central Bureau of Investigation on a plea filed by a lawyer, Manohar Lal Sharma, alleging corruption to the tune of Rs 6 lakh crore in allocation of iron ore mines in various states.
In his petition, Mr Sharma contended that the apex court should pass appropriate directions and order with respect to the scam related to corruption to the tune of Rs 6 lakh crores in the allocation of iron ore mines in various states.
Headed by Justice SA Bobde, the bench, while hearing the petition, also appointed senior advocate PS Narasimha as amicus curiae, (friend of the court) to assist it in the case.
