BJP-led coalition govt in Goa proves majority

Panaji, Mar 20 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition government in Goa proved its majority during a floor test conducted in the state assembly on Wednesday.
While 20 MLAs were in favour of the government, 15 stood against it.
Eleven members from BJP, three MLAs each from Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and independents supported the government while 14 MLAs of Congress and one of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were against the government during head count conducted on floor of the House.
The Assembly Session was presided over by Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo.
Meanwhile, Cumbarjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, who was ill for some months, attended the special session of the assembly which was called to prove majority of the government.
