Death toll from Philippines storm rises to 126

Ankara: The death toll from the powerful storm Usman that triggered landslides and flash flood in the Philippines has climbed to 126, Chinese official news agency reported on Sunday.

Xinhua cited the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as saying that 26 people remain missing in the regions of Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.

The number of affected people has also climbed to 675,777, according to the NDRRMC.

In September, 2018, at least 95 people were killed as a typhoon swept through the northern end of the country’s Luzon Island.

The Philippines is hit by around 20 typhoons and storms each year.
