Citizenship Amendment Bill will be passed soon: Modi

Silchar, Jan 5: Stating that India has responsibility towards it’s own people who were victims of
partition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 will be passed in the Parliament soon which aims to provide citizenship to persecuted Hindus, Christians, Punjabi and Parsis living outside.
While addressing a mammoth rally at Silchar in Barak valley, Prime Minister Modi on expected lines tried to play a balancing act and said that the citizenship amendment bill is not a favour it’s the mistake of the past that has to be corrected.
Mr Modi tried to dispel the fear of the majority community in Assam that the passing of the bill will compromise their culture and tradition.
“At any cost BJP will not compromise with culture, tradition of the country. Recently, we have taken a decision to implement the clause 6 of the Assam Accord which is hanging for last 35 years. Implementation of the clause will ensure that Assamese culture tradition will be protected.”
Mr Modi also tried to dispel fear related to NRC and said not a single geninue citizen will be left out of the process.
” I know you all faced difficulties but for your sacrifice the NRC could be completed” Mr Modi said.
