Guwahati, Jul 15: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today announced a Rs 50 lakh award for Hima Das, who won the gold medal in 400 metre race at the IAAF World U-20 Championships in Finland.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the state government would offer her Rs 50 lakh as a reward. Earlier, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had announced Rs 1 lakh for her from a trust that is run in the name of his parents, and the Assam Athletic Association and the Assam Olympic Association announced rewards of Rs 2 lakh each. Former minister Gautam Roy also announced Rs1 lakh.
