New Delhi, July 10: All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH), the national federation of Anganwadi workers and helpers, will observe July 10 as ‘Save ICDS’ from dismantling opposing Direct Cash Transfer in ICDS, the day which the organisation has been observing as ‘India Demands Day’ for last 20 years.
“Lakhs of anganwadi workers and helpers will demonstrate in Union Minister’s constituencies and district headquarters throughout the country on its all India Demands’ Day on 10 July 2018”, said AR Sindhu, general secretary of AIFAWH, a CPI(M) affiliated organisation, in a statement.
The organisation said that it will not allow the move by the Central government to introduce direct cash transfer and packaged food in ICDS .
The AIFAWH alleged that the central government is trying to stop cooked meals in anganwadis.
It also demanded that the government stop privatisation of ICDS in any form and that Aadhar linkage to ICDS services should not be made mandatory.
“Implement the recommendations made by the 45th and 46th Indian labour Conferences’ to recognise the anganwadi workers and helpers as workers, pay them minimum wages not less than Rs 18000 per month, provide them social security including pension not less than Rs.3000 per month”, the AIFAWH said.
It added that the Central government has cut the share of ICDS budget from 60 to 25 percent.
