Sheikh Hasina urges Indian Companies to invest in Bangladesh

sheikh HasinaKolkata, May 26 : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the captains of industry in the city to explore business opportunities in her country
Ms Hasina on Friday simultaneously urged the Indian government to facilitate the Bangladeshi investors to make investment in India, particularly on joint venture, saying that it will be a win- win situation for both the countries

The Bangladesh Prime Minister interacted with a section of the industry in a closed-door meeting in the city this evening, whose main agenda was to explore India-Bangladesh business opportunities. Bangladesh is India’s biggest trade partner among the SAARC countries.

She also sought support of the Indian business leaders for river dredging in Bangladesh and said that it will boost connectivity in the region.

Ms Hasina said that Bangladesh was on its way to becoming a middle-income country by 2021 and was targeting a GDP growth of 8 per cent by 2020.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, Indian investment proposals in Bangladesh with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority exceeds 3 billion dollar.
