Sunil Arora to be the next Chief Election Commissioner

New Delhi, Nov 27: Election Commissioner Sunil Arora has been appointed as the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), sources said on Monday.
Though no official notification has been issued sources said Sunil Arora’s appointment as the new Chief Election Commissioner has been approved by President Ram Nath Kovind.
Mr Arora, a 1980 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, will take charge of the office of CEC on 2 December.
He will replace outgoing CEC OP Rawat, who is set to retire this week.
Arora assumes charge at a time when the poll panel is in the midst of conducting assembly elections in five states.
A former bureaucrat, Arora was appointed to the election commission in September last year.
Mr Arora, had been the Information and Broadcasting Secretary, and Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
