Moscow, Dec 6: Saying that the current Moscow-Washington ties have entered a new Cold War era, Russia on Tuesday accused the Trump administration of making hostage relations between the two countries to the internal politics in the United States.
“Russia and the US have probably entered a period which is in many ways reminiscent of the Cold War era,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
He was addressing a meeting of the Russian Public Council for International Cooperation and Public Diplomacy entitled “Russia and the US: Problems and Prospects for the Development of Bilateral Relations.
”
Ryabkov said that Washington has been showing less and less willingness to work with Russia on international platforms, such as the UN Security Council and G20.
“Our US counterparts have been showing a declining willingness to work, first and foremost, on international platforms in order to find compromises and draw up documents for the UN Security Council, G20 and special UN agencies, such as the OPCW, and IAEA,” he said.
