New Delhi, Oct 29 : Supreme Court on Monday asked Delhi transport authorities to ensure that more than 15 year old petrol vehicles and more than 10 year old diesel vehicles do not ply in Delhi and NCR, keeping in view the rising level of pollution in the region.
A division bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice MB Lokur, asked the Delhi transport department to put up on its website a detailed list of all such old vehicles.
Expressing its displeasure over the way the pollution is rising, the Apex Court asked the transport authorities to put out the entire list of all these old vehicles in their website and impounded them if they flout the law.
The Apex Court asked the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to open a social media account where citizens can lodge complaints regarding pollution in Delhi.
The Top Court also asked Delhi’s transport department and CPCB to issue advertisements regarding pollution.
