HC notice to state govt on inclusion of Muslim in state list of OBC

Shimla : The Himachal Pradesh High Court today issued a notice to the state government on the issue pertaining to implementation of recommendations made by the Centre as well as H.P. State Commission for Backward classes to include Muslim sub caste/communities in the state list of OBC.

The Court sought a reply from the government within four weeks.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma. passed the orders on a writ petition filed by All Himachal Muslim Welfare Society.

The Society said that it had been requesting the state government to include the names of some sub category, sub castes/profession of Muslim categories in the state list of OBC since 1999.

It was also mentioned in the petition that as per recommendation of the 64th State Commission for Backward Class the claim of inclusion of Muslim sub caste/communities in the state list like Teli, Julaha/Kabir Panthi, Lohar and Jogi.

But despite various representations made by the Society, the government of Himachal Pradesh is not implementing the recommendations made by the Centre as well as H.P.State Commission for Backward Classes in this regard.
