Thiruvananthapuram: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar visited the Dr. Ambedkar Vidyanikethan Residential School at Njaraneeli at Palode here on Friday and celebrated New Year with students.
The Minister announced plans for the development of the school, which has a majority of Scheduled Tribe students.
One plan is to take over a hectare of land from the Forest Department to be used as the school ground. Also, funds will be allocated from the Scheduled Tribe Development Department to construct an auditorium for the school.
The Minister also announced that a van would be bought for the school. In addition, Rs.2 lakh of fixed deposit would be given to the school as part of the Gandhigram project.
Mr. Sivakumar said a permanent medical facility would be set up at the school and the services of a junior public health nurse would be ensured.
