IGMC to have second campus soon: Virbhadra Singh 638 0 by j niranjan das 9 years ago In Development · Education · news Shimla: The Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) would soon have its second campus, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said today. Presiding over the golden jubilee year’s annual prize distribution function of IGMC here, the Chief Minister said that meeting the basic health requirements of people, especially the ageing population in future has to be taken care of and setting up more medical colleges and expanding the present medical colleges was the current need. He said high standards, abiding commitment to serve the people and highly disciplined conduct were very important. The doctors have a greater responsibility and they should serve their patients with dedication and commitment, no matter how hectic their schedule was, Singh said. He said the IGMC had expanded manifold and the second campus was coming up at Chamayana and assured that the case would be pursued for forest clearance with the forest department. The Chief Minister said that three medical colleges were coming up in the state at Hamirpur, Chamba and Nahan for which a provision of Rs 189 crore each had been made. Besides, the Union government had also agreed to hand over the ESIC hospital at Ner Chowk and open an AIIMS in Bilaspur district.
