The Maharashtra government has decided to translate 41 manuscripts by Mahatma Gandhi in Marathi language. An announcement in this regard was made by finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Saturday. The minister visiting Gandhiji’s Sabarmati Ashram. “Over 61 books written by Mahatma Gandhi have already been translated into Marathi. However, 41 are still left. The Maharashtra government would take steps to translate them as well,” the press communique issued by the state government on Sunday quoted Mungantiwar as saying in Gujarat’s Sewagram.
The minster further said, “We have taken a decision of translating manuscripts of Gandhiji in Marathi so that his thoughts reach every corner of Maharashtra. Gandhiji is the most inspiring icon for our country. I was totally mesmerised after experiencing his life today at Sabarmati Ashram. Will work with them closely to make Sewagram a world class tourist destination,” Mungantiwar tweeted later in the day.
