May 28,2026: Karnataka’s Chief Minister Sidaraya has announced his resignation. He is likely to formally submit his resignation to the governor later today. The resignation comes amid reports of elevation of his deputy DK Shivakumar as the new chief minister.
He was supposed to submit his resignation at Lok Bhavan but he announced it at the breakfast meeting since the governor is currently not in Bengaluru.
The developments follow a Congress high command meeting where reports say a decision on Shivakumar’s elevation was taken ending a prolonged power struggle in the state.
