Mohan Charan Majhi took oath as Odisha chief minister

Bhubaneswar,June 12,2024: Four-time MLA Mohan Charan Majhi, a tribal, was named next chief minister of Odisha by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP leader Mohan Charan Majhi took oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha, in Bhubaneswar. Governor Raghubar Das administered him the oath to office.

Majhi, who represents tribal-reserved Keonjhar assembly seat, is a graduate and is known for his non-controversial and vocal nature. He has risen through the ranks, starting his career as a sarpanch in 1997-2000.

Majhi has worked as secretary of State Advasi Morcha (BJP). A native of Raikala village under Keonjhar Sadar police station in Keonjhar district, Majhi belongs to Santhal tribe, mostly distributed in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.
After a meeting of BJP MLAs, Union minister Rajnath Singh announced Majhi’s name.

Odisha will also have two deputy CMs: KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida.
