KOTTAYAM: The K.R. Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts was inaugurated by Vice-President M. Hamid Ansari at Thekkumthala, 27 km off Kottayam, on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the Government is taking necessary steps to make the institute a deemed university. He also said that the institute is planning to create a film hub linking the nearby tourist spots Munnar, Vagamon, Kuttikanam and Kumarakom. The institute will hold cultural exchange programmes with foreign universities.
