healthNew Delhi, Jun 1: The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday clarified that there was no such protocol yet over mixing two different anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses.

“The same vaccines (Covishield and Covaxin) will be administered for both doses. There’s international research underway on the mixing of vaccines as the possibility of a positive effect is also plausible but a harmful reaction cannot be ruled out either,” the ministry said in a statement.

“It is an unresolved scientific question, science will settle it,” it added.

Due to the shortage of vaccines, it was being speculated that the government is contemplating scrapping the second shot of the Covishied vaccines, which requires two shots or mixing the two different types of vaccines.
