Thiruvananthapuram, May 29, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday condoled the death of Rajya Sabha MP and Managing Director of leading Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi, M P Veerendra Kumar.
Mr Kumar, the Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) leader was a former Union Minister of State for Finance and currently the member of PTI’s Board of Directors, died at a hospital in Kozhikode following a cardiac arrest on Thursday.
In a message, the Chief Minister said Mr Kumar’s demise is a huge loss to democratic and socialist organizations in the country.
Recalling his several decades old association with Veerendra Kumar, he said they were together in prison during the emergency period.
Veerendra Kumar resolutely fought against communal fascism until his last breath, the Chief Minister added.
