Modi speaks to Pranab, Pratibha, Sonia on corona

modiNew Delhi, Apr 5, Amidst efforts by the government on a war-footing to deal with the Corona pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called former Presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Pratibha Patil and also spoke to former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda.

Official sources said that besides these leaders, Mr Modi also discussed in detail the situation arising out of the Corona pandemic with top leaders of various political parties.

The Prime Minister spoke on telephone with both former Presidents and former Prime Ministers about this extraordinary crisis and discussed various issues related to the spread of the pandemic in the country.
Maintaining that nobody is alone in this time of crisis and the Modi government is taking everyone along, the Prime Minister also called the leaders of various political parties and discussed with them all aspects of the situation arising out of the outbreak of the pandemic.
During this time, the situation of Corona infection and the efforts being made by the government to deal with it, were chiefly discussed.

Among the leaders with whom the Prime Minister spoke include Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, senior Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, Biju Janata Dal chief Naveen Patnaik, Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s K Chandrasekhar Rao, DMK’s MK Stalin and Parkash Singh Badal of Shiromani Akali Dal.

In the last few days in the country, there has been major surge in the cases and the government is doing everything possible to prevent the spread of infection.

Mr Modi has called upon people across India to switch off their lights at 2100 hrs on Sunday for nine minutes to show solidarity to end the ‘darkness’ of the novel coronavirus that has affected more than 3,000 and claimed the lives of 77 across the country.
