amit shaKolhapur, Oct 14: Targeting the opposition Congress-NCP combine, Union Home Minister and BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to scrap Article 370 in Jammu and Kasmir and ending the ‘unjust’ practice of ‘triple talaq’ among Muslims were ‘historic’ and pointed that no prime minister of the Congress party had dared to take such decisions.
Addressing an election rally at Tapovan in Kalamba area of the city this afternoon, he said that Mr Modi, ‘the man with 56-inch chest’, has repealed Article 370 with one swift move, which no prime minister of the Congress could do so in past 70 years.
The BJP chief said that after victory in parliamentary election, Mr Modi took revolutionary decisions of passing of the triple talaq bill and nullifying Art 370 to make J&K an integral part of India and its bifurcation into two Union Territories.
Mr Shah claimed that during the Congress regime, despite the terror strikes within the country, its prime minister did not take action on them and acted as a ‘Maunibaba’ but it was Mr Modi who gave a blunt reply to Pakistan with surgical and air strikes.
Also, the triple talaq bill was passed by the BJP-led government while the opposition, led by the Congress, only opposed the decision for political purpose, he claimed and criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar for their opposition to both the decisions.
