IMA releases health manifesto; urges political parties to priortise healthcare

New Delhi, Mar 18; Indian Medical Association on Sunday released its “health manifesto” and urged all political parties to give priority to health sector.
The association said there is insufficient health funding and the GDP in health care is at a dismsal rate of 1.2 per cent. The out of pocket expenditure is one of the highest for our country and every year 3.3 per cent of people are pushed below the poverty line due to health spending.
The IMA demanded that the GDP in healthcare has to be increased to 5 per cent.
“MBBS doctors are ready to work in rural ares and the IMA can facilitate availability of manpower to the primary acre centres. there should be Recruitment Borads to recruit MBBS Graduates for primary care,” a statement by the Association said here.
