Andhra Pradesh to get two new universities

Amravati (Andhra Pradesh),  Feb 8 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu led Cabinet on Friday approved construction of two universities in the state.

Speaking to media about the Cabinet meeting held on Friday, Minister for Housing Kalava Srinivasulu said: “In order to provide quality education to the youth of Andhra Pradesh, Cabinet has approved two new universities in the state — Gurazada Apparao University in Vizianagaram and JNTU Amaravati University in Amaravati.”

The Cabinet also approved a minimum time scale for contract employees and contract lecturers hired at Andhra Pradesh residential schools and universities.

Around 98 selected candidates for Andhra Pradesh District Selection Committee (APDSC), whose appointments were pending, will be appointed after finalisation of the list with the minimum time scale, he added.

The Cabinet also approved payment of salaries to employees of the Vijayawada Municipal corporation and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation under 010 account. Now,  20 per cent interim relief will be given to state govt employees starting from June 1, 2018.
