GRPF sources said the suspected people had reached Guwahati Railway Station on Bangalore Express yesterday.
They had spent the night at the railway station itself and were to board the Kanchenjunga Express to Agartala, when they were detained after they failed to produce any valid Indian citizenship papers.
The detainees confessed before local TV channels that they had crossed illegally from Bangladesh through West Bengal 3-4 years back and were working petty jobs at Bangalore.
They were going to Agartala to return to Bangladesh and all were residents of Bagarat district, Khuln division of Bangladesh. GRPF have arrested them and launched investigation.
