Jakarta, Aug 28: Indian star Javelin athlete Neeraj Chopra went on to create history becoming the first Indian to claim gold for the country at the Asian Games in men’s Javelin throw on Monday.
Neeraj finished with a throw of 88.06 going for gold becoming the first gold medallist in Javelin, silver went to China’s Qizhen Liu with 82.22 his personal best at the games while bronze was secured by Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan with 80.75m.
While another Indian thrower Shivpal Singh stood at 8th spot with 74.11m.
The last time India won a men’s javelin was in 1982 by Gurtej Singh.
This is the also the first Gold in Javelin for India at the Asian Games, and also the first time India have won a Javelin and Shotput Gold in the same edition of the Asian Games.
