GDP growth shows economy is in right direction: FM

New Delhi, June 1: Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday that the GDP growth has been increasing continuously every quarter with growth of 7.7 per cent in Q4 of 2017-18, shows that the economy is on the right track and set for even higher growth in the future.
Reacting on the GDP growth data released on Thursday by Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Mr Goyal said, “This is the Sahi Vikas under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior union minister Arun Jaitley.
He said that numbers show economy is set for higher growth.
Finance and Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said that the constant increasing trend of quarterly GDP numbers in the Four-Quarters of 2017-18 at 5.6 per cent, 6.3 per cent, 7 per cent and 7.7 per cent indicates that the structural measures of reforms undertaken by Government is now bringing rich dividends in the form of higher GDP Growth Rate.
He said, “What is most noticeable is the increase in the Growth Rate of GVA of Manufacturing Sector in the last two Quarters of 2017-18 at 8.5 per cent and 9.1 per cent at constant price. We would like to believe that GST has given a big boost to the Industrial Sector.”
