Geneva, May 17: Taking cognisance of more than 19 deaths caused due to the deadly Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the UN World Health Organisation on Thursday decided to convene an emergency committee meeting on Friday, to consider the international risks of an Ebola outbreak in DRC.
According to WHO Spokesman Christian Lindmeier, ‘The expert committee on Friday will decide whether to declare a ‘public health emergency of international concern’, which would trigger more international involvement, mobilising research and resources, local media reports said here.
